Chapter 2: New York
The waterways in New York are not nearly as remote as the ones in Maine, but since I had hiked so extensively in New York, especially in the Adirondacks, I wanted to also kayak / camp there.
Also, every lake I have so far researched in New York only allows one to camp at designated campsites, and by reservations made in advance. This is also the case with the lakes in Maine with the exception of the lakes within the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, which are used on a "first come first serve" basis. Occasionally, I have camped wherever I could, since it was well into the night and I had not yet found a designated site or bad weather was coming in ("any port in a storm).

Here I have featured the three waterways that I have so far kayaked / camped on in New York.
